The best places to visit in Brotas, Sao Paulo, Brazil

To go with your family or with your friends. Brotas is a full of adventure and nature trip. There are so many places to see, and so many activities to do that you’ll probably come back here many times. At least I did  I separated for you two list, one about the places you can visit, and other to the activities you can do it.

SINGING SANDS (Areias que Camtam)

A spring of crystalline water forms a natural pool of fine white sand that, passing from one hand to the other (in the shape of a shell), makes a very cool sound. The water comes from the Tamandua river.

Location: Fazenda Areia que Canta. 15 km from the city center.

PLANETARY: UNIVERSE STUDY  CENTER (CEU)

With multimedia presentation and sky observation, the International Standard Planetarium is a great option to include in the trip, if the sky is open, of course.

Duration: 2 hours

WATERFALL: THREE FALLS (Tres Quedas)

One of the traditional places of the town is the Three Falls Ranch, the place offers 3 easy level trails to the waterfalls.
The place also has snack bar and Camping.

WATERFALL: CRISTAL 

Located in the middle of a cave, the waterfall is 15 m high and is surrounded by stones, vegetation, and noble trees with remarkable characteristics such as Pau-d’alho.
The water volume of the waterfall is not great, but it is drinkable and a great place for a shower.

WATERFALL PARK

The Postcard of Brotas.
With several falls in sequence and with a green ciliary forest around, the Jacaré Pepira River is one of the most visited attractions of the city. The starting point is on the bridge that leaves the sidewalk of Rua Alfredo Mangilli, and from there you can follow trails and falls.

ECO PARK COSSOROVA

Elected by Viagem & Turismo magazine, one of the 8 most beautiful waterfalls in Brazil, the place is certainly worth a visit. The waterfall Cassorova has 45 meters of height and swimming pool for a bath. The park where it is located has estructure for visitors that include: natural water pools, mini cascade, belvedere, trails with access to two waterfalls, restaurant and snack bar.

WATERFALL: QUATIS WATERFALL

With 42 meters of height the waterfall is located in a closed valley, the place it’s not good for swimming, but the landscape compensates the visit.

Location: Road to the Heritage Quarter. On the border of the Cassorova Waterfall (20 minutes) and the Sete Quedas Site (15 minutes). The most common access is by Cassorova

Hint: Both trails are uphills and into nature so be sure to check the condition and the weather before you go.

WATERFALL: ASTOR WATERFALL

This place has two waterfall:
The first, with 25 meters, is only 5 minutes of trail to reach.
The second one is 35 meters high and 40 minutes walking distance, but don’t worry, the landscape pays off.

How to get there: Access by road Patrimônio, 31 kilometers from the Center of Brotas

WATERFALL: HAMMER WATERFALL (Cachoeira do Martelo)

The waterfall has 55 meters and to access it you need to make a half hour trail through the woods, crossing the river several times. At halfway you will be able to see the Spring Waterfall, 20 meters. Just to give you some encouragement huh.

WATERFALL: SALTAO WATERFALL

With 75 meters of height, the waterfall is perfect for abseiling, an activity that is also practiced at night here. The place is also access to two waterfalls, Monjolinho and Ferradura. See below.

WATERFALL: MONJOLINHO WATERFALL

The waterfall is 12 meters high and easy to access. Perfect for a swim.

Location: Saltão Cachoeira. Road to San Pedro, Km 42

WATERFALL: HORSESHOE WATERFALL (Cachoeira da Ferradura)

At 47 meters, the waterfall is right in the middle of nature.

Location: Satao Waterfall. Road to San Pedro, Km 42

WATERFALLS: RECANTO OF WATERFALLS

This beautiful place has two waterfalls, the Santo Antônio Waterfall with 15 meters, and the Rose Waterfall with 55 meters, both are accessible by easy and fast trails. There is a structure with cafeteria, dressing room and a swimming pool installed in the top of a point view. 

Activities: Waterfall, trails, tree climbing, horseback riding, zip lining and abseiling.

WATERFALL: ESCORREGADOR WATERFALL

With a natural pool, camping area and swimming place, the access to this waterfall is by an easy trail.

Location: Access by road to Heritage, 38 kilometers from the Center

WATERFALL: SEVEN FALLS SITIO (Cachoeira sitio Sete Quedas)

The main attraction of Sítio has a middle-level track (1 km, round trip) which passes through the waterfalls of the Monkeys (35m), Coconut trees (18m) and Bela Vista (25m), the latter two are good for swimming.

DAM: REPRESA DO PATRIMÔNIO

With approximately 14.5 hectares, the dam is a great place to stay and have a space for walking with lots of water and leisure activities, such as: fishing boat trips, swimming, kayaking and Jet Skiing.

Location: Heritage neighborhood, high in the hills, 25 kilometers from the Center

RAFTING

Several companies offer the activity with varied prices, usually made in the rapids of the Jacaré Pepira River with inflatable boats, with the capacity of 4 to 7 people and one instructor per boat. Most companies include insurance, transportation, safety equipment, specialized guides, and training.

Minimum age: 12 years or minimum height of 1.20m.
The first exit for the Rafting is at 9:00 am.

Several companies offer the activity, one of the most famous is the Clube Off Road de Brotas. Where you can have access to an unexplored and unnamed waterfall, crossing a forest of eucalyptus, artificial lakes, crossing streams, stretches of native forest and panoramic views of the valley, in a course of approximately 16km.

TREE CLIMBING

Having a great path of tree climbing, several ranches and companies offer activity in the area. Usually, they include the tree climbing kit (chair, wagon, pulley, and helmet) and under control of specialized monitors, the participant travels aerial stretches, where the difficulty is increasing progressively.

BOIA CROSS

Usually practiced in the waters of the Jacaré Pepira River with a stretch of approximately 4 km and with rapids class I and II, the activity is offered by several companies.

RAPPEL IN THE WATERFALL (ABSEILING)

Eco-sports mode consisting of descending rivers with the use of ropes. The activity is offered by several companies in different waterfalls, with different heights and extensions.
